Rick Ankiel’s a Slammer
Not THE Slammer, but Rick Ankiel’s a slammin’ baseball player. Already making elucidating plays in the outfield that have opened people’s eyes to this guy’s transversal baseball game, he hit his 18th homerun against the Cubs yesterday evening; and, while the Cardinals were trailing 4-3 in the bottom of the 9th, with the bases loaded, 2-outs, Ankiel hit a line drive between the first and second basemen that sent two players to home, winning the game for the Cardinals.
So, Ankiel has a lofty 19 homeruns for the season. Excellent. What does this say about him? He had a great story weaving through the media-heads last season, during August, when the Cardinals were on a roll in the NL Central chase with the Cubs and Brewers. However, a story about his alleged use of HGH years ago manifested, and he was left out to dry, with the story becoming tainted — owe it all to the New York Daily News.
Now, Ankiel is here. 18 homeruns. And he’s playing centerfield to boot.
What’ah guy.
